Michelle
Director
Michelle lives in South Portland with her two kids and husband. She has two bonus, adult 'stepladies'. Michelle comes to us with 20 years of teaching experience; rangingfrom classrooms, early childhood centers, and homeless shelters. She has degrees in Art, Gender Studies, and in Education. Her Masters Degree is in Elementary Education, and she is in progress for her Masters in Social Work. She also holds a K-8 teaching license. Michelle loves music, being outside, and spending time with her family.

Amanda
Assistant Director
Amanda grew up in Massachusetts and recently moved to Maine after living in Tennessee for a few years. She went to Salem State University where she graduated with her degree in exercise science. She has always loved working with children and has had many years of childcare experience through nannying, babysitting, and Lead Teaching at Chickadee!

Catherine
Assistant Teacher
Catherine is a second-year student at Southern Maine Community College, pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been working professionally in the early childhood field for two years and has an additional four years of informal experience. Her passion for working with children began early in life, when her second sister was born. Catherine was just four years old at the time! She knew she wanted to grow up to help shape young minds and support their growth.

Courtney
Chipmunks
Courtney is originally from Connecticut. She graduated York College of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree. She enlisted in the Navy in 2018 and was stationed in Everett, Washington. It was there she reconnected with her now husband. Her daughter was born in 2023. She just recently moved to Maine not to long ago due to her husbands orders being changed, and now she and her daughter are excited to be a part of the Chickadee community!

Ann
Chickadees
Ann has spent most of her life in Maine. She graduated from Deering High School and went on to attend Southern Maine Community College, where she studied in the nursing program. Throughout her career, Ann has worked in a variety of childcare settings, gaining extensive experience in early childhood education. She is currently the lead teacher in the preschool program at Chickadee, where she continues to foster a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children.

Tatum
Tiny Cubs
Tatum brings years of experience in childcare, having cared for children of all ages. She especially loves working with infants, as each day offers a new and exciting adventure. Outside of work, Tatum enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenagers—whether they're traveling, catching a movie, or cheering on their favorite sports teams. She’s excited to build a joyful and fulfilling career here at Chickadee.

Katie
Little Fawns
Katie is a Massachusetts native who moved to Maine with her husband and daughter in 2021, and is a Maine certified early childhood and elementary educator with over 10 years teaching children in grades pre-K to first grade. In addition to her teaching certification, Katie holds a bachelors in psychology with a concentration in counseling. She is passionate about creative therapies and fostering purposeful interactions that nurture emotional intelligence in early childhood.

Louisa
Playful Kits
Louisa lives in Westbrook with friends and a dog. She just graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in History. Louisa comes to us with childcare experience from years of working at summer camp and is excited to be a part of the Chickadee community! Louisa enjoys music, pickleball, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Danielle
Little Fawns
Danielle has a passion for childcare grown through many years of related work experience, as well as through raising her three sons; Micah, Desmond, and Cosmo. She began assistant teaching in dance studios at the age of 8, after which she has held many roles, including lead dance teacher, summer program organizer/teacher, and nanny. She also comes with experience, both personal and professional, working with neurodivergent children. Danielle strives to curate a safe, respectful, and child led environment in which each little is met at their individual development, to best support them as the unique beings they are.

Maggie
Chipmunks
Maggie was born and raised here in South Portland, Maine. While in college, she studied art education and spent time working at a Montessori school. Maggie values creativity in all of its forms of expression and hopes to encourage little ones to learn through creative problem solving and play. In her free time she enjoys doing ceramics, being in nature, and spending time with her daughter, Ruby. We are excited to have Maggie and Ruby as a part of our Chickadee family!

Alaina
Tiny Cubs
Alaina is originally from Norton, Massachusetts, she moved to Maine in 2020 after graduating Norton High School. She met her fiancé in 2021 and had her son in 2024. She comes with knowledge and experience from working in other daycare centers. She is excited to meet you and your families! We are thrilled to have her and her son as part of our Chickadee community.

Marco
Assistant Teacher
Marco is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and moved to the United States in 2014. Having spent much of his life in Portland, Maine, he considers it a second home. A passionate and creative individual, Marco is a music producer who loves making music from scratch. Known for his kind heart, Marco finds joy in helping others, especially those in need. Being around children brings him peace and happiness, and it's one of the many ways he stays connected to his purpose.

Jo-Anna
Assistant Teacher
Jo-Anna has been dedicated to caring for children since she was a child herself. She did volunteer work at a center for infants and toddlers when she was younger. She continued taking classes and trainings until her and her husband welcomed their one and only child, Xavier. Jo-Anna is so excited to work with all the children and families at Chickadee!
